This weekend I participated in a 3-day event called Youth for Youth LIVE, a conference here on Guam for middle and high school students to experience outlets for living positive lifestyles. I held Creative Session workshops each day, and the students created collaborative paintings together. Even though the workshops were titled “Express Yourself” and focused on painting, my main message that I wanted to leave with these awesome kids is to just keep creating.
Keep following your interests and passions, and create your own career based on how you want to live your life. Be mindful of your thoughts, words, and actions, and how they affect you and anyone you ever encounter.
In the last workshop I facilitated, I challenged the participants to go for a whole day without complaining, criticizing, or gossiping. Then I narrowed it down, at least try for ONE whole hour. And when you catch yourself, you can turn it around by offering a solution, or thinking of something positive.
I enjoyed the event, and would like to thank all who helped to make it happen, and proud that this has been going on for more than 20 years!
