Every so often, in between commission projects, art planning, and business tasks, I am inspired to paint something on a whim, an urge if you will. One evening, I felt the time was right to create a thick textured golden spiral that had been on my mind and heart for a few months. There is great power in a simple spiral. In fact, when I got back into painting in 2007 and 2008, some of my first pieces were simple spirals. There is a patience in the art of creating spirals, and you can see both my patient and hasty moments in this piece.
