Creative Spotlight: Her Majesty, The Queen(s)

Had an image in my mind today and immediately set up my easel, a 24″x30″ canvas, and my paints to start on it while the inspiration was fresh. It is titled “Her Majesty,” and represents a queen who is energetic, full of life & joy, powerful, graceful, bold, loving and playful. She is well-respected for her balance of these qualities. She is extremely creative, productive, efficient. She values leisure and fun, so it is important to her to live simply and maximize her genius power.

Majesty is not just about being grand or dignified, it is also an indescribable space, an awareness. It represents potential, creative power, life force. There is a poem by Rumi that I love, called The Freshness:

When it’s cold and raining,
you are more beautiful.

And the snow brings me
even closer to your lips.

The inner secret, that which was never born,
you are that freshness, and I am with you now.

I can’t explain the goings,
or the comings. You enter suddenly,

and I am nowhere again.
Inside the majesty.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Her Majesty, The Queen:

Aaaaand, then apparently, this little piece wanted to be created too. A spin-off of the queen inspiration, this one presents a sort of darker image of a queen, and I used some sponge texture to change up the style:
