During both adventures to Bali, I visited the Sekumpul Waterfall in North Bali. It is a breathtakingly beautiful and magical place. I would visit a hundred times or more if I could! When you get to the bottom of a million stairs or so, you walk across a bridge over the river, up alongside the mountain a …
Grand Opening mission complete! Thank you to everyone that was able to stop by, and thank you to everyone who was there in spirit too. Opening this studio has been a 6-month long journey, and so worth it! Here are photos of the Grand Opening:
I was recently inspired by the season of flame trees in full bloom here on Guam. Truly a sight to see, these vibrant red and orange flowers will demand your attention and invite your appreciation for such beauty. As I drove by a particularly amazing flame tree in Hagatna, I knew that it would be …
Catching a break between commission work, I decided to paint an image that has been marinating in my mind’s eye for some time now. The Purple Tree Goddess image is one the represents the rich strength of nature, and that the energy that runs through the trees is the same energy that runs through us. …
Awhile back I had painted a piece titled Freedom, and it eventually sold at one of my events. The buyer recently contacted me to commission two paintings just like it, except one would have more blues. Here is the first one, done in the likeness of the original. ETA: Blue piece has been finished and …
The Divine Mother painting commissions continue! This one is especially unique because it is done in only black, white, and gold paint for a modern style finish for my client’s new office. This piece is a 16″x20″ acrylic on stretched canvas, and to follow are photos and videos of the painting process.
Commission complete! A starfish was requested, now it’s time to sign, seal and deliver. This was a really fun piece. I got to play with my new palette knives to create that blended impasto look for the background. Metallic blue and gold were also used in this painting. 30″x30″ acrylic on stretched canvas.
Time for some sponge action to create a full-textured Golden Goddess painting commission, inspired by the original Life Force paintings I did a couple years back. This piece was commissioned through the Divine Mother fundraiser campaign to open my art studio. Here’s a play-by-play of the sponging action and close-ups on the textures.
The original, first Latte Stone painting that I’d done to start a project intending to create 100 Latte Stone paintings in 1 year. That was a couple years ago, and I’m not sure if I’ve reached 100. I have painted many latte stones though! I got in a special print on metal of this piece, …
So when I get a commission request, they often show up as an idea and it evolves from there. Here is the a recent request that I received for this almost-finished moonlit jungle painting: How are you? We follow you on Instagram and love your paintings! Our 11th wedding anniversary is in April so we …
The first set of commissioned Divine Mother paintings are just about finished, with maybe a few adjustments before they are released. They are each unique, one in similar likeness to the original, and one with a different look and feel. I wanted to incorporate the balance between grounded roots (and DNA), and outstretching light and spirit. …
The Guam Valley of the Latte Adventure Park just held its first annual festival along the Talofofo River, where there is also an ancient latte stone village site. I was one of the artists exhibiting, and these are two 8″x10″ latte stone paintings that I did for the event.
The Guam Valley of the Latte Adventure Park just held its first annual festival along the Talofofo River, where there is also an ancient latte stone village site. I was one of the artists exhibiting, and this is a moonlit jungle clearing painting that I did for the event. Here are photos of the process …
Waves are one of my favorite, and most challenging subject to paint. I’ve always been in love with the ocean, and am endlessly amazed by the power and beauty of ocean waves. This Divine Wave is acrylic on stretched canvas, 24″x30″ and is exhibited at MoSa’s Joint in Hagatna, available for purchase. Here are photos …
Every so often, in between commission projects, art planning, and business tasks, I am inspired to paint something on a whim, an urge if you will. One evening, I felt the time was right to create a thick textured golden spiral that had been on my mind and heart for a few months. There is …
Maga’lahi is a commissioned rooster painting, of a Kelso breed that holds special meaning to its owner. On Guam, breeding roosters is a long-held hobby and connoisseurship alike. While some engage in the culture of cockfighting, this owner loves roosters for the art of breeding and the memories of growing up with loved ones who …
Earlier this month I was commissioned to paint a 2nd piece for a lovely little family. The first one was for the little girl’s birthday a couple years ago, and now that baby brother has entered the world, time for a new birthday painting! I created this one in similar likeness to his big sister’s …
Ok, I will be honest, it was hard just to write that title. As difficult and bittersweet as it’s been to come to this decision, I know it is the right one. Here’s why. In order to convey what led to this decision, let me go back in time to when I had the inspiration …
A fun and challenging commission painting, “Ray of Sunshine” is an acrylic painting on 11″x14″ stretched canvas recently finished. Based on a photo of a mother’s daughter, this piece is a special one, capturing the essence of her little girl reading, in the sanctuary of golden light streaming in through a bedroom window. I actually …
The latest painting finished and out the studio is a commissioned intuitive piece titled “Alive,” is a piece inspired by the idea that each of us holds a light within. It is an acrylic painting on 12″x16″ stretched canvas. We are all connected in many ways, sharing the air we breathe, the ground we walk on, …
Had a lovely painting session with these fun (and talented!) ladies yet again. Always a great time with this group, and it feels bittersweet to announce that I will no longer be holding Creative Sessions until further notice. All events are temporarily being put on hold this year, as I direct my focus toward expanding …
My favorite part of creating art for sale, is seeing the painting in its new home. The Taotaomo’na Tree and Golden Moon Reflection paintings joined each other in “their” new condo. 😉 Here are the paintings in the studio, and now in their new space.
At the Holiday Craft Fair, I had a request from a client to commission a painting based on the original large Sun & Wind piece that I did for the Guam Utilities building, but this piece would be condensed to a smaller square. It is always tricky when changing the scale of an image as …
Every once in awhile, I get a commission request to paint an intuitive piece as a gift for someone on Valentine’s day, open to whatever I feel or envision. Recently, I received a request to paint “my thoughts on love,” completely open to my interpretation and vision, no other instructions or detailed preferences. I truly …
Right after I painted the Divine Mother piece, next up was a rooster to go on wall at the new MoSa’s Joint in Hagatna, my home away from home. Here is a play by play of the painting process, as well as a photo of the guys that came in and bought it (specifically the …
Painting turtles is no easy task. Ask anyone who has painted one. Especially for the first time. And especially if you haven’t painted anything in forever! These amazing ladies were such a fun group to paint with, and I admire their willingness to be open to the process. I am proud of every single one …
Click the link below or picture above to read the full details on how you can help support my IndieGoGo fundraising campaign to FINALLY open an actual art studio space in Hagatña, here on Guam. I recently painted a “Divine Mother” piece for myself, as my own sort of “guide” to keep on my wall, to …
My birthday is 12/12/84 at 12:12pm, and so I’ve always felt connected to the number 12. Another special connection is sharing that birthday (12/12) with my great-grandmother Agueda Johnston, who was a well-known woman here on Guam. While I have never really been much of a religious person, I do have a strong sense of …
So I was up late one night (I think it was new year’s day? or the 2nd?) and decided to just go ahead and paint the giant canvas sitting in my room. Over the course of several hours, the biggest latte stone I’ve ever painted emerged. I have been loving using the crosshatch style of …
The final piece of a recent commission collection is finished! A dramatic cat painting, done in a non-abstract style for once. Black, white and green are the palette and an alert kitty gives the staredown of both curiosity and readiness. Decided to sketch it first to try to get the proportions to look okay. This was …
A recent commission project that came up was to do a Nutcracker painting as holiday decor, and a Sunflower painting. There is also a cat piece, but I haven’t started that one yet. That’s next! Here is the process for the Nutcracker & Sunflower pieces:
November has been quite a month!!! Here are the adventures in a photo-recap, including Guam scenery at the beach, on a jungle/cave hike, the moon, my dog, the kids, surfing adventures, art adventures, women in business conference, food gatherings with friends, and miscellaneous selfies and fun:
October’s Creative Session at Guma’ Tasa coffee shop/bar was really nice. Always relaxing, and we always simply CREATE. This month’s painting session included progress on a calming turtle piece, and some abstract work, different pieces inspired by a galaxy idea, earthy tones, dragon scales and purple blending, and a yellow flower.
I love getting messages like these! An update on the very first big taotaomo’na tree piece that I did: “It’s found its permanent resting place in Kingston, WA. It made it from Guam to Virginia for a couple years and is now in WA. Still our favorite painting!” -Andrea
I just finished a 2-piece painting project of a couple flowers that are native (or indigenous) to Guam and the Northern Marianas. The two featured are “niyoron” and “ifit,” in my artistic representation for a commissioned project. Here I show the painting process from start to finish:
The other day I really needed to just sit and paint something. I chose these two small canvases (6″x8″), because I had an idea that I wanted to do pretty quickly, rather than a large piece. The first piece I did was a dark, “Amethyst Latte Stone” piece, with a sort of crystal and grunge …
Friday night, I took myself on an artist date, not knowing what I’d create. Julia Cameron, author of The Artist’s Way, is known for encouraging “artist dates,” where you make time away from your usual work just to enjoy yourself, by yourself. It is a really rewarding experience, and I really cherish time for solitude. …
“IlluminLatte” is an abstract latte stone painting I did recently. I recorded the process from start to finish, sharing and explaining my painting style. This piece is an acrylic painting done on stretched canvas, and all the paint is Chroma brand metallic acrylics. This is a full length video, just over 20 minutes. Below is …
This weekend we had a very quiet Creative Session, but no shortage of creativity! Lots of imagination, hearts, color, wings, feathers, abstract shapes, fairy wings, and coffee, of course! I didn’t get as many photos as I hoped to, but here are the few I captured:
Just as the title states: Skyscapes, Seascapes, Winescapes, Chill Sessions, Studio Shots & Surfboards are what you’ll find in this photo-journal blog post! Enjoy and cheers.
Hafa adai! This weekend I had the special honor of leading a Creative Session focusing on the healing power of art. Art has a natural way of being healing, simply through the act of creating. The creative process is something that happens in everyday life… You have an idea, or see something inspiring. You have …
We had a fun painting party last night, creating a variety of jellyfish artworks! As always, my favorite part of these sessions is seeing the diversity and unique creativity in every person’s piece. A fuzzy little kitten made it’s way into my camera roll as well.
So I recently listed my artwork for sale on Fine Art America, and am now able to offer high quality prints on a variety of things like canvas, metal, cards, pillows, duvet covers, tote bags, phone cases and more. I have been going through the process of getting everything all set up, and so far, …
One of the most common questions I get asked about painting is: What supplies do you use and where do you buy them? I am writing this to save myself from repeating my answer over and over. I mean, I don’t mind, but this will be much more helpful, for me and you. So, painting …
The other day, I had one of those bursts of painting inspirations, and blasted out 4 pieces in 24 hours. This happens every once in awhile, where inspiration meets urge and opportunity. Piece after piece, the motto is “paint, paint, and paint some more!” These kinds of days are so satisfyingly exhausting, I love them …
You can create art in just about any space if you get a little creative. When I got back into painting in 2007, it was not an ideal situation for creating art, or so I thought. My boys were 2-years old and 8-months old, and I was overwhelmed with life. We lived in a small studio space …
June 6th was the 1st Saturday of the month, and that means: Creative Session at Guma’ Tasa! As usual, I provide all the supplies for you to come and try acrylic painting. Everyone brings their own image to create/recreate, and we encourage each other through the process. This month’s session was colorful! I always love …
Yay, another fun evening of art and creativity! The 1st Art Night at MoSa’s Joint Restaurant went on without a hitch, and turned out to be a fun evening for all. Big thanks to MoSa’s for opening up their space on a Sunday to do this special event. We want to make it a regular …
A happy happy birthday to a wonderful woman named Natalie. Lady friends and family gathered to celebrate and have some unique fun by painting together. I love these kinds of private Creative Sessions, because there is always so much laughter, love, and creativity in one room. What more meaningful way to spend your birthday than …
Looking for an enjoyable mom’s night out? Creative Indeed is offering an art & wine night just for moms, facilitated by Michelle Pier, a local artist here on Guam. Simply bring an image you love, or pick from some of the images that will be available at the session, OR you can even just wing …
The first Saturday of the month brings life and color to Guma’ Tasa once again! Creative Sessions are held monthly, and this weekend’s class was a full one. Everyone created beautiful imagery of all kinds. The diversity of art that happens in these sessions always amazes me. Many participants surprise themselves with their creations, whether …
You may have seen my previous post showing the progress of the Tree of Wisdom painting. The piece is finally finished, and I’ve compiled all the footage of the process from start to finish. Here is a time-lapse of the painting, to music: “Firestone” by Kygo ft. Conrad Sewell.
Hafa adai everyone! Creative Indeed is now officially on Instagram! To kick things off, I’m going to be giving away a 6″x8″ commissioned original artwork of your very own. TO ENTER: Like this photo and comment what kind of art you’d like to see from me. Repost for an extra entry, and be sure to …
This Saturday was a full moon, lunar eclipse, and a painting party night! I had a private Creative Session with a wonderful group of ladies (and a curious kitty). They were inspired by a photo of an island and a turtle, so we let it evolve from there. My classes aren’t so much of an …
April is in full effect, and today was kicked off with some painting fun at Guma’ Tasa. We had some abstract designs, scenery, and imaginative pieces created on the spot. Creative Sessions are held every 1st Saturday of the month at Guma’ Tasa. I provide supplies for acrylic painting, and you get to come and …
This piece has been in my mind’s eye for some time now, a darker painting with metallic colors for the floral design. I actually did this piece to go along with a photoshoot I recently did. As it goes with any of my pieces, especially the ones with metallic paints, different lighting situations change the …
When I got back into painting in 2008, I started by creating a spiral, with one color. I needed the simplicity at the time, as painting with two babies to care for wasn’t easy to do. I gave myself permission to keep things really simple by starting with one color, one motion. It turned into …
A few weeks ago, I had a unique opportunity to paint my art onto a wedding dress modeled by Erin Wong, 2014 Miss Earth Guam for the Pacific Daily News Guam Bridal Guide. Big thanks to Hannah Iriarte for reaching out to me for this project. The concept is to show the art as if …
You may recall my previous post on the Coconut Fire Goddess painting I did. Well, she now has a twin! The Coconut Water Goddess painting has been created as a sister painting for two lovely ladies. Here are pics:
Yesterday while cleaning up palettes from previous Creative Sessions, I had a friend over, and we had an impromptu session to use up leftover wet paint. We went into the zone, with drinks on the side, and music beats in the background. Here are our little creations:
Last week I started a new piece, and it’s another big one! Pulled out a 4’x6′ canvas to play with, and I’m already having a blast painting what is shaping up to be a big colorful tree. It has a lot of warmth in it right now, but the next few layers of colors will be …
March kind of crept up on me, and this past week in particular was pretty intense. Even though I wasn’t able to post the Creative Sessions notice, we still had a little crowd at Guma’ Tasa coffeehouse for painting fun. My apologies to those who may have missed out, I sincerely hope you are able …

February’s Creative Session was held this past Saturday (every 1st Saturday of the month) at Guma’ Tasa, and we had a record number of participants. We filled up tables and everyone created art together. Participants seemed to enjoy themselves, and also surprise themselves with some of their creations! Here are some photos from the session:
Due to popular demand, I have painted another rooster, or “gayu” as we call them in Chamorro here on Guam. I’m sure this won’t be the last, and in fact, this might be the start of a collection of pieces to showcase in an exhibit. A rooster exhibit! Here are some photos of the piece …
Now that I’ve cleared out the big pieces from my room, I finally got to start on some long-awaited pieces. The first one on the easel is “I Puti’on” (which is Chamorro for “the Star”), a commissioned piece. I really enjoyed this one, a lot of warm and cool contrasts with metallics throughout. The Star …
Every 1st Saturday of the month, I hold Creative Sessions (a painting workshop) at Guma’ Tasa, a coffeehouse in Mangilao here on Guam. The sessions are designed to be a fun, supportive environment to experiment with acrylic painting. It is not a fine art how-to kind of class, more of a free expression style class. …
What makes you come alive? I invite you to be mindful in 2015. Zero in on the moment you are in, where is your focus? Put down the distractions, and give this moment your full attention. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and then open your eyes. What do you need most right now? …
Create the life you love to live! Creativity is all about where you put your attention. Your attention is the most precious thing you own, and the highest quality gift you can give to anyone or anything in your life. Give your pure and full attention to what you love, and it will grow. Let it …

On my birthday, December 12th, I decided to celebrate by giving away a small painting. This 6″x8″ piece is called “Alive” and I posted a picture of it, with this wordage: Today is my birthday! In celebration, I’d like to give away a painting! This is a small piece, it is 6″x8″ acrylic on stretched canvas …
A couple recent paintings I did, the first two were spontaneous, the third a commissioned piece. The “Abundant Joy” tree, was a piece I did as a challenge from a friend on a difficult day. I was having a hard time emotionally and she challenged me to put in into a painting. It wasn’t what …
It’s been crazy lately, and I don’t have many regular artworks to show because I’ve been preoccupied with big painting projects and events. All is well in my art world, things moving forward in an amazing way. Just keep creating, just keep creating, just keep creating.
The latest commission artwork by Michelle Pier, a 4’x6′ acrylic painting on canvas titled “Infinite Love,” was documented from start to finish in this time-lapse video:
Art in progress… so this piece is starting to take shape. Still much more to go, but I enjoy sharing the process behind the painting, the many layers.
And it was all… yellow. 4×6 feet of sunshine. SO fun. Yes, I needed a stool to reach the top. My arm is actually tired after an hour of sponging, lol. And I now have natural yellow “french tips” on my nails, no need for manicures. The first of maaaannnyyyyyy layers to come! Have I …
A whimsical piece. A fun tree in the golden light. 16″x20″ acrylic on stretched canvas.
An earthy commission piece. Acrylic on stretched canvas, 16″x20″ titled “Strength & Light.”
A recent commission piece: A blue & gold sunset, abstract, with impasto effect.
Just Keep Creating. No matter what. Life is full of ups and downs and unexpected twists and turns. Sometimes things will seem totally torn apart and destroyed. And we can sit and feel the experience, and no matter how difficult, can continue to ask ourselves? What do I need now? What do I want now? …
A couple weeks ago I painted this wave piece, full of thick texture and complimentary colors, blending the sunset’s warmth into the ocean coolness. It is a 24″x30″ acrylic on stretched canvas. Here are pictures of the process from start to finish. The piece is currently located at MoSa’s Joint Restaurant in Tamuning, Guam.
Going for something a little different, and very colorful. This piece is maybe halfway done… My easel right now:
She Dances. This piece is inspired by many photos I’ve come across of beautiful belly dancers, with their sensual movements and eye-catching outfits. Black and gold has always been a color combination that I love, and decided to use it for this piece. 11″x14″ acrylic on stretched canvas.
The GAX~ Guam Art Exhibit festivities continue! Saturday evening was Live Art Night, right alongside the Guam Visitors’ Bureau hosted BBQ Block Party in Tumon. The road was closed and Guam residents and tourists alike roamed the streets checking out the numerous bbq vendors. There was entertainment going on, and of course, we had the …
Creative Sessions are held every 1st Saturday of the month at Guma’ Tasa in Mangilao, Guam, from 9-11am. Fee is $30 and includes all acrylic painting supplies. We had a good time, here are photos from this month’s session:
I’ve been meaning to paint another rooster (or known better on Guam as Gåyu), so I whipped up this piece two days ago.
Painted this Moonlit Sea piece last week, as I felt like following the flow of the rainy grey weather. When life gets you down, just keep creating.
This last weekend I facilitated one of several private Creative Sessions I’ve offered, and it was so fun! Hosting your own art & wine night in the comfort of your home or business brings a totally different element to the Creative Session. It is more fun and cozy when you are in your own space, …
Working on another Spirit Tree, I love doing these!! A part of me wants to keep this piece, but it isn’t meant for me… Here are photos of the process from start to finish, plus shots of the piece delivered to its new (beautiful) home.
Went into painting mode today, and finished these two pieces, a colorful abstract wave, and the guåsali flower native to Guam. Had fun using my palette knife, it’s been awhile since I’ve played with these tools. Creative experimentation… The abstract wave is 16″x20″ and the Guåsali is 24″x24″ and both will be available for sale.
An affirmation for you today: “I love all of me.” All of your being, the light, the dark, the pretty, the ugly… neat n tidy, chaotic & messy, clean, dirty, happy, sad, angry, confused, ecstatic, grateful, creative, boring, loud, quiet, steady, shaky, nervous, confident, passive, assertive, stubborn, wild, calm, passionate, placid, giving, greedy, desiring, soulful, …
Here are some tidbits from this past Creative Session at Guma’ Tasa. For some strange reason I didn’t get pics of the lovely creations made by Jody and her daughter! I was in a zone that day. =)
So as I have mentioned before, fine art portrait painting and other technical art are not my expertise or preference. However, I have been challenging myself to take on more and try to improve in this area. I had a request for a painting based on a photo taken by Frank Henshaw of the lovely …
So I am currently collaborating with a local filmmaker and director James Davis creating a short documentary clip of me as an artist. I’ve been on video many times, but I’m still mortified every time I see/hear myself. The cool thing is getting to see the process of gathering footage and putting things together. It’s …
Earthy Spiral” My favorite thing to paint… spirals… they are like meditation for me. This one has an earthy textured feel. 16″x20″ acrylic on stretched canvas
For those with a fire in their heart that may feel dimmed at times, but always still a spark, waiting for life to breathe it into a flame, a full on blaze of unstoppable life force energy. Treat this power with love, respect & nurturing. Use it for creation, not destruction. Channel that intensity with …
I’m not sure how to begin writing this special post, so I’ll just start by saying exactly that. If you look back at many journal entries of mine, they often begin with “I’m not sure what to write, but…” and it is because I have so much to say that I don’t know where to …
Say that 5 times fast. =) “Painting Photo Shoot Session.” I would like to thank our lovely local photographers Jolynn Redmond and Frank Henshaw for dropping in on today’s Creative Session at Guma’ Tasa. Lovely to see you both and invite you to experience the day from an artist’s perspective. Thanks for getting right in …
Today I had an adventurous Creative Session. =) I attempted to paint this dark horse. I just love the image so much, and horses have been calling to me lately. Here’s the photo I was inspired by: Here’s my painting attempt. I’m still learning & practicing, horse features are tricky with paint! At …
I love photography, capturing images is a beautiful art form, whether digital or handcrafted. Recently, I was offered to do an art-themed photoshoot by Robert D. Camacho, a wonderful local photographer here on Guam. It was a lot of fun. I don’t have any real modeling experience, but this experiment was awesome, not too shabby?! …
Just some highlights from my latest creative adventures… pretty flowers, a neighborhood peacock, a light show warehouse party for my friends’ ShipRight BoatShop grand opening, photo-art made out of selfies, and a close-up on the rooster painting I did recently.
iFit Guam is a new sports and fitness facility opening soon on Guam, and they are looking for artists to come and leave their mark on the walls of the warehouse. The space is big, full of floor to ceiling cement canvas waiting to be transformed into art. I have accepted the challenge. Here are …
I recently installed a finished commissioned painting of an ocean lagoon scene on Guam. It is a partial representation of Alupang Cove in Tamuning. Much of the imagery (like the tree) were added via intuition, for many purposes such as color and grounding. I had a collective of images in my mind of the place, through …

I love trees so much, I decided it was time to paint another spirit tree. The last one I painted sold at Pika’s Cafe. This one will be going up in the new MoSa’s Joint restaurant opening in Tamuning, Guam. On Guam we call the banyan trees Taotaomo’na trees, otherwise known as the Nunu tree, …
The waterfall symbolizes effortlessness. Powerful, graceful flow. Skillfully moving around that which is often seen as an obstacle. The water finds its way around, creating art out of the rock standing before its path. Cascading beauty, into a pool of calm. I have been experiencing a theme of letting go, patience, trust, graceful powerful flow, …
This piece came together rather quickly. I was in the middle of painting the latest giant spirit tree, and was feeling stuck. Was craving a different painting, so I put aside the big canvas and pulled out a 24″x30″ frame and began painting. I knew I wanted to do a wave, and the latte stones …
Last week I had the privilege of visiting the new MoSa’s Joint restaurant opening soon here on Guam, to scope out the design and get a feel for what kind of art I will put up on their walls. The Joint is expected to open the 2nd week of August, according to MOnique Genereaux and …
This painting was brought to me (after a custom piece was commissioned and loved!) with the request to give it a boost, a facelift if you will. The painting would likely go in the same room that the Tree of Grace would, so I decided to continue with the earthy magical tree concept.
A commissioned piece as a birthday present for one lucky mama of four lucky boys. A beautiful relationship, and beautiful meaning behind the painting. The four latte stones represent the four boys, a foundation of strength, love, and faith. Scenery from Apaca point in Agat, Guam, a beloved spot that reminds mom of home. …
This piece is titled Tree of Grace, a custom intuitive artwork. 16″x20″ acrylic on stretched canvas.
Here is the 3rd of 100 latte stones that I will be painting as a part of my latest project 100 Latte Stones in 1 Year. 12″x36″ acrylic on stretched canvas
It is a bittersweet feeling to end my exhibit at Pika’s Cafe. The experience has been amazing, and quite lucrative for me as their featured artist. I have sold more paintings through this exhibit than any other, ever. I have made a lot of contacts, and have had a lot of fun painting, painting, and …

Here is the 2nd of 100 latte stones that I will be painting as a part of my latest project 100 Latte Stones in 1 Year. Painted upside down so that any drippiness would go upward. Earthy color dabbing and blending… Ta da! Commentary from the Video Blog
Here is the 1st of 100 latte stones that I will be painting as a part of my latest project 100 Latte Stones in 1 Year.
Just finished a piece called “Flourishing” today. Took video footage and made a time-lapsed movie.
Since I haven’t ordered any large stretched canvas lately, I went to Ross to pick up some big print pieces on clearance to paint over. The canvas is not as high quality as the ones I usually order, but I use thick layers of acrylic paint, so it reinforces the whole piece anyway. It was …
The last painting I did was of 3 latte stones I painted over an old piece. The old piece was titled “Bubblegum Jungle” and was an abstract splash of red, silver, green, yellow and other squiggly blends. I used silver and gold to paint 3 latte stones over the bubblegum jungle. My personal symbolism for …
This week I started a Facbeook group called Living, Learning, Raising Guam: Resources & Support for families on Guam. It is a place for parents, families, teachers, and anyone who has great ideas and resources for living and learning on Guam. It is a place to share, to ask questions, to seek support, to find ideas …
Looking for some fun ideas for your family to get into this summer on Guam? I’ve done some looking, and here are some of the programs, camps, and other opportunities that I’ve come across: Inetnon Gefpa’go- Manhoben Escape Summer Program …
Continuing on the giant nautilus… (Also check out PART 1 and PART 2)
Continuing on the giant nautilus… (Also check out PART 1)
So I decided to paint a giant nautilus painting. A 3’x5′ canvas. Here is PART 1:
Thank you Andrea, a beautiful painting for a beautiful soul. I am thrilled to have this special piece to go to someone who really loves it. Happy birthday Andrea, you deserve it, and have a wonderful and blessed journey! And of course, huge THANK YOU to Pika’s Cafe for the opportunity to exhibit my artwork …
This mermaid piece was commissioned by a friend, who loved the last mermaid piece that I did, and wanted her very own. So here she is, Si Sirena, mermaid undersea, enjoying her space on a rock formation, with strands of seaweed keeping her company as light shines down on her from the skylight above. …
A custom intuitive painting, 16″x20″ on stretched canvas. What looks yellow is actually a metallic gold that shimmers in the light. Painting is now happy in its new home.
Created these two pieces at the Creative Session on Saturday. The Island Goddess was an image I had in my mind that morning, although it evolved when the brush was put to canvas. This is what usually happens, I have a general image in mind, but once the paint goes down, things change. And I …
So I am admittedly one of those artist moms who is squeamish about her own kids’ messes. It is rare that my kids get to indulge in messy fun kid stuff, and when it happens, it’s outside. With a tarp. And a hose. And towels, cleaning spray, a mop, okay okay just kidding, I’m not …
Sirena, a famous mermaid legend here on Guam, has decided to make her presence on my canvas. She is the young girl who loved the sea so much she would spend most her days there, and would often forget her chores that her mother and godmother assigned her. One day she forgot about some important family …
Up next going in to my exhibit at Pika’s Cafe in Upper Tumon, Guam (across St. John’s school)… the Magic Tree. Acrylic painting on 3’x5′ stretched canvas. I’ve been wanting to paint a big tree again for awhile now, and finally got my fix! May put a few more finishing touches on the tree, but …
So I painted this Moon Goddess painting, and I really loved her, and then the other day she “said” to me “I want to be brighter!” My easel was free and clear when the huge canvases for the Guam Reef Hotel moved out, so Moon Goddess took its place on the easel and began to …
Here is PART 3 to the Guam Reef Hotel Project. (You can also check back to PART 1 and PART 2 to see from the beginning). It has been a serendipitous series of events that led up to the project’s birth. There are so many parallels to this story, it will probably sound too good to be …
I love photography just about as much as I love painting. Over the years, I’ve gotten way more comfortable with being in photos and also taking self-portraits, especially as I’ve had to do so for my website and other projects requiring a photo and artist bio. It is weird at first writing about yourself and …
Yesterday’s Creative Session was Rainbow-themed! Rainbows of all kinds, shapes, forms, AND colors. What would YOUR rainbow look like? Traditional? Abstract? Scenic? Symbolic? Tiny? Huge? Earthy? Neon? Participants from yesterday’s session had a great time creating their rainbows, myself included. Here is a photo-journey of the session:
Hafa adai! This Saturday is March 9th, weekend of the new moon (on the 11th). At 10am we will meet at Tu Re Cafe and this Creative Session‘s theme is Rainbows. You can take that to any level you like, morph it into your own creation. You can be traditional or experimental. Your world, your …
So this past week I decided I wanted to paint something specific. An ifit flower. And I just happened to have a beautiful photo that I took of one last year, much better than any photo I found searching on google! Of course, I would paint it in my own style, my creative version, not …
Some of you knew this was coming. I’ve talked of turtles and their magic before, shared with friends, made mentions of one day painting a turtle into one of my artworks. Well, there has been a lot of turtle magic in my life recently, and to tell you the truth, this painting wasn’t planned. It …
Continuing my painting groove, today I created this piece titled “Moon Goddess” and I just love her! It is a 24″x30″ acrylic on canvas, with a lot of movement. She is a goddess of the moon, she is nameless. She ebbs and flows as the tides do, she follows a rhythm and cycle that is …
Had an image in my mind today and immediately set up my easel, a 24″x30″ canvas, and my paints to start on it while the inspiration was fresh. It is titled “Her Majesty,” and represents a queen who is energetic, full of life & joy, powerful, graceful, bold, loving and playful. She is well-respected for …
Last Creative Session was awesome! We had a full house, including a mini artist. Between the 8 of us, we were painting (acrylic and watercolor), beading, mixed media (sand, collage), writing, brainstorming, resume writing, and simply enjoying ourselves. With some fun music, great conversation, and of course, tons of creativity swirling around, it was quite …
This huge canvas is 5 feet x 3 feet, and is filled with deep blues, seaweed greens, luminescent white, silver & pearl. This painting is a special custom piece I did for my dad as a gift for Christmas. It is giant swirling wave scene, a mesmerizing piece for sure. He says he loves …
“The Seed” 24″x30″ acrylic on stretched canvas This painting was originally intended to be submitted to the GAX V: Guam Art Exhibit, though I ended up not being able to participate after all. “The Seed” represents the past, present, and future. It is the literal and figurative symbol of creation, of spirit/consciousness evolving. It symbolizes …
Today’s Creation Spotlight is featuring a 3-panel painting titled “Fire in the Gypsy.” I’d like to give a behind-the-scenes peak into the painting process, so a time-lapsed video clip is in order. Scroll down to view it. Quick stats: Acrylic paint on 8″x24″ panels of stretched canvas. This was a fun painting. I enjoy the …
