iFit Guam just held its grand opening this weekend, and it was a blast! I was one of the mural artists who painted up some of their warehouse walls, so I was there displaying my artwork. They also held a Countershot Kickboxing demo, a free-throw contest, fitness extraordinaire Billy “Zinja” Navarette gave demos of the …
Every summer the Marianas Yacht Club holds a 1-week sailing class for kids on Guam. They learn basic water and sailing skills, jammed into 5 days of fun. My 8 year old son took advantage of the first year they are offering a scholarship to a couple kids based on an essay contest on why …
On my way home from visiting with a friend, I decided at the last second to pull over to wait and catch the sunset. Found a lovely lone flower on the beach too. Turned out to be a beautiful mini adventure. Glad I followed that spontaneous urge.
Always seems to be a good time had by all at Guma’ Tasa coffee shop. Last night featured “Illus-DRE-ted” the opening art exhibit by Andrea Grajek, a talented local artist. Her work is featured with Nihi, a local kids TV show, in “The House that Jose Built” a book authored by Cara Flores Mays, throughout …
Went into painting mode today, and finished these two pieces, a colorful abstract wave, and the guåsali flower native to Guam. Had fun using my palette knife, it’s been awhile since I’ve played with these tools. Creative experimentation… The abstract wave is 16″x20″ and the Guåsali is 24″x24″ and both will be available for sale.
Huge thank you to Soroptimist International of Guam (SIG), I am humbled and extremely appreciative of this $500 donation to go toward this year’s Luna Festival. It’s funny, because in recent months I’d been debating whether or not to continue holding the festival. I told myself I’d done it for 5 years, I could either stop …
Here are photos of the process from start to finish of this commission painting I just completed. It is a beach scene, and while it isn’t a specific spot painted in its accuracy, the image was based off of a photo of some waves breaking at a particular surf spot on Guam. I gave it …
Throughout the month of May, Yeon Sook Park and other visiting artists from Korea’s Foreign Exchange Art Association showcased their artwork at the Guam CAHA gallery in Hagatna. This huge collection of beautiful works is best seen in person, to capture the details, textures and presence of the artists’ pieces.
Guma’ Tasa Coffee Shop presents the Artisan Collective Series: A showcase of Guam’s local musicians and artisans. The showcases will be going on every Saturday through May and the summer, kicking off the Summer Artisan Program for Teens. The program will begin it’s first session in June, and will offer workshops to teens who want …
This weekend I participated in a 3-day event called Youth for Youth LIVE, a conference here on Guam for middle and high school students to experience outlets for living positive lifestyles. I held Creative Session workshops each day, and the students created collaborative paintings together. Even though the workshops were titled “Express Yourself” and focused …
John F. Kennedy High School art students exhibited over 200 pieces at Cars Plus showroom, beginning Friday May 16th. The exhibit will be up until the following Friday, May 23rd. Go and check it out, there are some amazing works, and all of these students worked hard. Support up and coming artists!
Creative Indeed & Guam Coffee Company would like to congratulate Mr. Ben Quinata, who won 1st place & $500 in the Art Competition we held with the theme “Plant the Seeds of Our Heritage Among Our Children.” His piece “Rebirth” won the majority vote from the judging panel, and was quite popular among the people’s …
My dad, Ken Pier, shapes surfboards. It’s been many years since he’s made one, and he decided to get back to it, starting with one for himself. This is a whole other kind of art, and one I really respect. Shaping a surfboard by hand is, in my opinion, like trying to freehand draw a …
The latest commission piece I’m working on is for a fiery little princess who just turned 1 year old. This is a piece that she can “grow into” and cherish for years. I think it captures her fun-loving nature.
I get asked about inspiration a lot. “What inspires you?” “Where do your ideas come from?” “How do you keep the process going?” Well the simple answer is: Living life. Every day there is something to be inspired by. Enjoying life, observing your surroundings, noticing things that catch your attention, appreciating beauty, having fun with …

We will be taking into consideration the “people’s choice” both here on Creative Indeed’s page, as well as on Guam Coffee Company’s Facebook page …
I’m just going to let the photos of the paintings do the talking for this post.
Here is the field segment of the video project I am working on with James Davis, a local filmmaker, cinematographer, & director here on Guam. He offered to collaborate on a mini documentary on me and my art. This painting was done/inspired by the fields of Talofofo, down on the Malojloj side of Guam.
Here on Guam, we didn’t really get to see much of the blood moon lunar eclipse because of the timing and cloudiness. Some friends and I took our kids down to “1st Beach” in Ipan here on Guam. The kids had fun… after they gave up whining about the bugs and fighting with each other for …
