Waves are one of my favorite, and most challenging subject to paint. I’ve always been in love with the ocean, and am endlessly amazed by the power and beauty of ocean waves. This Divine Wave is acrylic on stretched canvas, 24″x30″ and is exhibited at MoSa’s Joint in Hagatna, available for purchase. Here are photos …
Just as the title states: Skyscapes, Seascapes, Winescapes, Chill Sessions, Studio Shots & Surfboards are what you’ll find in this photo-journal blog post! Enjoy and cheers.
Typhoon Bavi just missed Guam, passing north, but brought some fun and messy storm waves to Talofofo Bay. It was fun to surf, even if the waves weren’t that great. I spent 6 hours having a blast in the wild mess. We always have a good time at the Bay, especially when a bonfire follows …
Mother nature has been really fun to photograph lately… some shots and musings from the last week or two:
Now that I’ve cleared out the big pieces from my room, I finally got to start on some long-awaited pieces. The first one on the easel is “I Puti’on” (which is Chamorro for “the Star”), a commissioned piece. I really enjoyed this one, a lot of warm and cool contrasts with metallics throughout. The Star …
On my birthday, December 12th, I decided to celebrate by giving away a small painting. This 6″x8″ piece is called “Alive” and I posted a picture of it, with this wordage: Today is my birthday! In celebration, I’d like to give away a painting! This is a small piece, it is 6″x8″ acrylic on stretched canvas …
You can see local artwork by visiting Guam Coffee Company, across PIC in Tumon. I have six pieces installed for viewing and sale, including: Wild Seas, Ocean Latte, Two Lattes, Haggan, Sailing Away, and Si Sirena. Go and check it out! Guam Coffee has a great beverage selection, as well as some tasty eats, AND …
A couple weeks ago I painted this wave piece, full of thick texture and complimentary colors, blending the sunset’s warmth into the ocean coolness. It is a 24″x30″ acrylic on stretched canvas. Here are pictures of the process from start to finish. The piece is currently located at MoSa’s Joint Restaurant in Tamuning, Guam.
Painted this Moonlit Sea piece last week, as I felt like following the flow of the rainy grey weather. When life gets you down, just keep creating.
On my way home from visiting with a friend, I decided at the last second to pull over to wait and catch the sunset. Found a lovely lone flower on the beach too. Turned out to be a beautiful mini adventure. Glad I followed that spontaneous urge.
This month’s Creative Session at Guma’ Tasa was a nice chill one. I decided to experiment with creating a painting with a stained glass look. I also played with a lot of water. My creative session partners were painting a sculpture, a multi-piece gift for someone, landscape and more. =)
Went into painting mode today, and finished these two pieces, a colorful abstract wave, and the guåsali flower native to Guam. Had fun using my palette knife, it’s been awhile since I’ve played with these tools. Creative experimentation… The abstract wave is 16″x20″ and the Guåsali is 24″x24″ and both will be available for sale.
Here are photos of the process from start to finish of this commission painting I just completed. It is a beach scene, and while it isn’t a specific spot painted in its accuracy, the image was based off of a photo of some waves breaking at a particular surf spot on Guam. I gave it …
The latest commission piece I’m working on is for a fiery little princess who just turned 1 year old. This is a piece that she can “grow into” and cherish for years. I think it captures her fun-loving nature.
So I am currently collaborating with a local filmmaker and director James Davis creating a short documentary clip of me as an artist. I’ve been on video many times, but I’m still mortified every time I see/hear myself. The cool thing is getting to see the process of gathering footage and putting things together. It’s …
Here on Guam, we didn’t really get to see much of the blood moon lunar eclipse because of the timing and cloudiness. Some friends and I took our kids down to “1st Beach” in Ipan here on Guam. The kids had fun… after they gave up whining about the bugs and fighting with each other for …
Say that 5 times fast. =) “Painting Photo Shoot Session.” I would like to thank our lovely local photographers Jolynn Redmond and Frank Henshaw for dropping in on today’s Creative Session at Guma’ Tasa. Lovely to see you both and invite you to experience the day from an artist’s perspective. Thanks for getting right in …
Today I had an adventurous Creative Session. =) I attempted to paint this dark horse. I just love the image so much, and horses have been calling to me lately. Here’s the photo I was inspired by: Here’s my painting attempt. I’m still learning & practicing, horse features are tricky with paint! At …
I recently installed a finished commissioned painting of an ocean lagoon scene on Guam. It is a partial representation of Alupang Cove in Tamuning. Much of the imagery (like the tree) were added via intuition, for many purposes such as color and grounding. I had a collective of images in my mind of the place, through …
What a beautiful full moon we just had! From where I live we get to watch it rise on the ocean horizon. And this full moon falls under the Tumaiguini moon cycle. The other day I caught a few shots of beautiful waves at a local surf spot. No one out! The photos don’t show …
